Genevieve Smith is a DPhil candidate at University of Oxford where her research explores machine learning-based credit assessment tools in the Global South and their impacts on gender equitable financial inclusion. She is the Director of the Responsible & Equitable AI Initiative at the UC Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research Lab (BAIR) and on Professional Faculty at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business where she teaches on responsible AI innovation and management. She is also the Responsible AI Fellow at the U.S. Agency for International Development.
