NEW RESEARCH SURVEY LAUNCHED

AI, Biodiversity and Energy: A View from the Industry

TIDE is launching a research project on AI and innovations in energy technologies. Interested companies can access the survey here.

The Technology and Industrialisation for Development Centre (TIDE) at the University of Oxford is excited to announce the launch of a new research project focused on exploring nature- inspired innovations in energy across key global industries. This research will gather insights from private sector leaders on energy challenges, practices, and innovative solutions to address the pressing needs of energy generation, storage, transmission, and use.

As AI and other advanced technologies rapidly evolve, they place increasing pressure on minerals, energy, water, and biodiversity. At the same time, our research highlights the vast potential of biodiversity as a bank of ideas for innovation. By leveraging biomimicry, which emulates nature’s designs, biodiversity-rich nations can leapfrog to the innovation frontier.

This project will explore how nature-inspired innovations can optimize energy use and generation, based on survey a leading energy producers and users on their practices and challenges related to energy generation, storage, transmission, and use, as well as their innovations in nature-based and nature-inspired solutions to address these challenges.

Its insights will inform collaborations by TIDE/University of Oxford with leading Latin American think tanks and startup accelerators, fostering regional innovations that provide practical solutions to global industry challenges. Stay tuned for updates on our findings and future collaborations as we explore innovative paths towards a sustainable energy future.
