PAVEL BILEK

Pavel is an Associate at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) and an independent consultant researcher. At the IGF, he is working on critical minerals in ASEAN. He previously served as the Deputy Head of the Energy and Climate Policy team and the Low Carbon Ukraine at Berlin Economics, advising high-level government officials in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Southern Caucasus. Pavel has worked across the private, public and third sectors and has worked on and led projects across the world in the sphere of energy, extractives and development. He has also served as an independent consultant for the World Bank, International Energy Agency, the European Commission, UNDP ASEAN and other institutions on various topics. He has a broad range of interests and expertise, including energy economics, international development, industrial policy and extractive sector economics and governance. Pavel holds a BSc from the London School of Economics and an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge.
