TIDE AND INPA PARTNERSHIP

TIDE and INPA Strategic Partnership to Advance Bio-Inspired Innovation in the Amazon

On 1 July 2025, the TIDE Centre, University of Oxford, and Brazil’s INPA – National Institute for Amazonian Research signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on bio-inspiration as a strategy for innovation and sustainable development in the Amazon.

This new alliance brings together Oxford’s research expertise in bio-inspiration and INPA’s world-class biodiversity and entrepreneurship capabilities. The partnership will focus on:

  • Nature-inspired energy technologies
  • Sustainable industrialisation research
  • Academic exchanges and capacity building

As the world prepares for COP30 in Belem, Brazil, this collaboration will underscore the importance of placing ancestral knowledge and nature at the heart of the global sustainable development agenda.
