TIDE at the 9th Sino-UK Innovation & Development Forum

Members of the TIDE team participated in the 9th Sino-UK Innovation & Development Forum in Hangzhou, a major international convening focused on innovation governance, talent attraction, and industrial transformation. The forum highlighted Hangzhou’s launch of multiple innovation pilot zones across sectors such as AI, biomedicine, aerospace information, and digital applications, offering insights into how cities are experimenting with policy tools to foster innovation-led growth.



TIDE’s engagement contributed comparative perspectives on how innovation ecosystems are built through institutional design, policy sequencing, and international collaboration. Discussions explored how city-level experimentation can complement national strategies, and how talent attraction must be aligned with domestic capability-building to ensure inclusive outcomes. The forum also provided a platform to connect research with policy practice, reinforcing the importance of openness, learning, and adaptability in shaping innovation-driven development in a rapidly evolving global context.
